Sacrificial giving

Sacrificial Offerings December 17, 2018 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all. — Luke 21:3 Grandmother Bagley was a very beloved grandmother in our array of six different grandmothers — and she was a true genetic grandmother. She was a very simple woman who had a lot of faith. She had lost several husbands and children due to sickness, and although she was a financially poor woman, she was rich in faith. When I visited her house, she always made the most wonderful lunches. But when I asked for seconds, she was quick to remind me that I needed to be satisfied with what she had fed me because she didn’t have enough for seconds. One thing I’ll never forget about Grandmother Bagley was her commitment and devotion to give offerings to Oral Roberts Ministries. I can still visualize her writing the name “ORAL ROBERTS,” filling out the address on her envelope, and then inserting a one-dollar-bill in...

Fight to keep your marriage

ARE YOU IN COURTSHIP??? Written By: Lizzy Oyebola Oyekunle My name is Kate and I am a medical doctor. I am married to a very loving man called Kelvin. He is a teacher so he gets back home before me most days. He takes care of the children, cooks and takes care of the house whenever I am on call. To me, he is the perfect definition of a great man! And a very great counsellor! Four months ago, Rachael, my best friend from secondary school contacted me that she had an issue getting relationships right. She was crying all day on the phone and I just couldn’t bear it as I was so sleepy. I sent her my husband’s contact so she could talk to him instead. She called up to ten times the next day to appreciate me for connecting her to my husband as she was getting appropriate counselling sessions! Every day, I watch them become really great friends! - My husband talks to her immediately after our family devotions every morning; he sends her gifts and visits her workplace to give...

Meekness is not weakness

EVANGEL DAILY MEAL DEVOTIONAL Friday 9 November 2018 Text: Numbers.12:3; Psalm 25:8-10 TOPIC: THE MEEK IS NOT THE WEAK KEY VERSE Psalm 37:11 MESSAGE There is a sagely saying that the meek has saved his life and that of a violent aggressor by refusing to fight. The idea is that if the meek had gone forward to fight, he might get killed but the strong man that killed him would also die for murder. Meekness is not necessarily weakness. It is wisdom; the ability to weigh matters with even and balanced passion to determine whether to fight on or fall back . The meek knows when it is better to suffer injuries in silence without feeling a spirit of revenge. The palm tree is very meek. It bows very low when the evil wind is blowing and when it is over , it stands erect again. Some other trees that haven't this wisdom stand erect while the evil wind is blowing and are felled. At last, it is the meek that inherits the earth! In April 10, 2017, the Governor of United States of Alab...

Living water

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Saturday, November 10, 2018 TOPIC: LONELY HOUR Read: Deuteronomy 31:1-8 MEMORISE: Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). EXPOSITION Loneliness is a powerful emotion. It can lead to despair, or it can draw us closer to the Lord. It is also a condition for which we were never designed. From the very beginning, God said that, it was not good for the man to be alone (Gen. 2:18). So, He created Eve. Then came sin, the separator. Ever since, we have been trying to regain the intimate fellowship that was lost in the Garden of Eden. Most of us start this journey to recovery by seeking healthy connections with other people. Friends and family can help enormously, but their presence is no substitute for fellowship with the heavenly Father. In fact, our best friends can sometimes impede our efforts by appearing ...

I will never marry a pastor

*I WILL NEVER MARRY A PASTOR!* [DEACONESS ROBERTA'S SHOCKING DISCOVERY] Yesterday was Sunday, I was in church and everyone looked gorgeous and glorious... The Church Service was just heavenly. My Pastor  was delivering the message with so much passion... His words were hitting me right where I sat. Suddenly my stomach did a flip flop. So I went out to answer the call of nature. Before I could head back into the Church building, I could bet I was hearing sobs... Sobs coming from the back of the Ladies' Restroom. I followed the sobbing sound and guess who I met!! Daniella, my Pastor's  beautiful 6 year old daughter crying and Cherish, 9 years was trying to calm her down.. I tried  to find out what was wrong. Even though it took a long time before they voiced out. They were hungry... Daniella said to me,  "Aunty, when I grow up, I will never marry a pastor, so that I won't be hungry... My Dad is a pastor and we are always hungry, but my friends' dads are n...

Ministry or merchandise??

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Monday, September 17, 2018 TOPIC: MINISTRY OR MERCHANDISE? Read: Acts 8:9-24 MEMORISE: Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:19). EXPOSITION When the use of something is not known, the abuse is unavoidable. With the way Christianity is going and growing in our world, it is time we reviewed it. The essence of this review is to evaluate the Christian ministries. While this write up is not out to indict or condemn some ministries, the truth of God’s Word which cannot be over-shadowed will beam its searchlight on our acclaimed Christian ministries which have gradually (suddenly) turned merchandising outfits! Every trader aims at maximizing profits, even at the expense of his/her customers. He/she advertises, promotes, auctions and does all the needful towards getting appreciable market share, which eventually translate into more profits. Is Christian ministry also for profit making?...

GOD’S EXPECTATION AND INSPECTION

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Saturday, September 15, 2018 TOPIC: GOD’S EXPECTATION AND INSPECTION Read: Revelation 22:7-12 MEMORISE: And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work (Revelation 22:12). EXPOSITION It is often said that, “People only do what you inspect not what You expect.” This is to say that a typical human being naturally won’t do what he/she knows is right, until he/she is supervised with very regular and close monitoring. And our expectations are always high on people, but we meet with disappointments and heartbrokenness, because we only expect but never inspect! However, God, our Creator, does not only expect certain things to be done by us but also conscientiously inspects them (Psa. 14:2). Every leader who only expects and fails to inspect will have his or her hope dashed on efficiency and effectiveness (Matt. 20:1ff). It is God’s expectation that we live His hol...
