I will never marry a pastor

*I WILL NEVER MARRY A PASTOR!* [DEACONESS ROBERTA'S SHOCKING DISCOVERY] Yesterday was Sunday, I was in church and everyone looked gorgeous and glorious... The Church Service was just heavenly. My Pastor  was delivering the message with so much passion... His words were hitting me right where I sat. Suddenly my stomach did a flip flop. So I went out to answer the call of nature. Before I could head back into the Church building, I could bet I was hearing sobs... Sobs coming from the back of the Ladies' Restroom. I followed the sobbing sound and guess who I met!! Daniella, my Pastor's  beautiful 6 year old daughter crying and Cherish, 9 years was trying to calm her down.. I tried  to find out what was wrong. Even though it took a long time before they voiced out. They were hungry... Daniella said to me,  "Aunty, when I grow up, I will never marry a pastor, so that I won't be hungry... My Dad is a pastor and we are always hungry, but my friends' dads are n...

Ministry or merchandise??

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Monday, September 17, 2018 TOPIC: MINISTRY OR MERCHANDISE? Read: Acts 8:9-24 MEMORISE: Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:19). EXPOSITION When the use of something is not known, the abuse is unavoidable. With the way Christianity is going and growing in our world, it is time we reviewed it. The essence of this review is to evaluate the Christian ministries. While this write up is not out to indict or condemn some ministries, the truth of God’s Word which cannot be over-shadowed will beam its searchlight on our acclaimed Christian ministries which have gradually (suddenly) turned merchandising outfits! Every trader aims at maximizing profits, even at the expense of his/her customers. He/she advertises, promotes, auctions and does all the needful towards getting appreciable market share, which eventually translate into more profits. Is Christian ministry also for profit making?...

GOD’S EXPECTATION AND INSPECTION

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Saturday, September 15, 2018 TOPIC: GOD’S EXPECTATION AND INSPECTION Read: Revelation 22:7-12 MEMORISE: And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work (Revelation 22:12). EXPOSITION It is often said that, “People only do what you inspect not what You expect.” This is to say that a typical human being naturally won’t do what he/she knows is right, until he/she is supervised with very regular and close monitoring. And our expectations are always high on people, but we meet with disappointments and heartbrokenness, because we only expect but never inspect! However, God, our Creator, does not only expect certain things to be done by us but also conscientiously inspects them (Psa. 14:2). Every leader who only expects and fails to inspect will have his or her hope dashed on efficiency and effectiveness (Matt. 20:1ff). It is God’s expectation that we live His hol...

Respect my mom

Respect my mum just as you Respect yours. One Afternoon A Husband Arrived Home With Sad News. *HUBBY:* Baby, I just received a call: mother is not feeling well. Shall we go to town and get some necessities for the Visit? Please write a list and then we can go. *WIFE:* A list won't be necessary, we'll just get 2 cabbages and 2 litres of cooking oil. *HUBBY:* Is it going to be enough really? *WIFE:* Yes Sweetie, No need to waste money,of course it's gonna be enough. (They Left For Town & After Getting 2 Cabbages & 2litres Of Cooking Oil, During the purchase The Hubby Asked His Wife Again If that Was All. She Emphasized the Issue of Not Wasting Money On an impromptu Visit. They Then Hit The Road Towards The Village & Where The Road Branches To Different Villages, The Hubby Driving, Took A Turn To His Wife's Home.) *WIFE:* ( _Shocked_) where are we going honey? I thought you said we're going to visit your mother. *HUBBY:* Yes, we are. It's you...

Where are you?

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Monday, September 10, 2018 - World Suicide Prevention Day TOPIC: WHERE ARE YOU? Read: Genesis 3:3-13 MEMORISE: And the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate” (Genesis 3:13). EXPOSITION On the International scene, today is the World Suicide Prevention Day. On a day like this, a discuss of the fall of Adam and Eve is relevant. What they did is like committing suicide. They followed Satan’s advice to disobey God’s command that eventually brought them death. Isn’t that suicidal! It is only in few places, that God has asked man questions; one of those few places is in verse 9 of Genesis chapter three: Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?". When a question like the above comes your way, God is driving at something. It could be to just confirm that you are in your proper position or location, or to know your point of r...

Break one, break all

*THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE* *Wednesday, September 5, 2018* *TOPIC: BREAK ONE, BREAK ALL!* *Read: Matthew 5:15-19* *MEMORISE*: Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven *(Matthew 5:19).* *EXPOSITION* The Bible confirms that the whole counsel of God for man written in the scriptures, has a unique and wonderful unity. No one injunction of the scripture contradicts another, despite that the Holy Ghost inspired the writers of these scriptures at different dispensations, periods, and generations. The commandments of God to His people centre on one thing – OBEDIENCE (Deut. 28:1ff). Religious adherents during Jesus’ earthly ministry thought they could outsmart Jesus’ teachings by disguising that they were righteous, whereas they were far from being so (Jn. 8:30-34). A good and regu...

Beware of your careless moments

THE LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE Monday, September 3, 2018 TOPIC: BEWARE OF YOUR CARELESS MOMENTS Read: 2 Samuel 11:1 " And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem." MEMORISE: Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold (2 Samuel 11:2). EXPOSITION For sure, careless moments would come. Such moments are when we are relaxed, at rest, or at lowest ebbs. These are moments when sin can easily penetrate unnoticed. Don’t be ignorant of such moments. Danger fell in 2 Samuel 11 due to the danger of respite. God had given him and was still giving him victory over his enemies. As much as he went to war, he defeated ...
