*TOPIC: HEALING POWER OF A MERRY HEART*

*📖 READ:* Proverbs 15:13-15

*MEMORISE: A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones (Proverbs 17:22).*

*EXPOSITION:*
A merry heart is a cheerful and joyful heart. There is a healing effect when we are joyful and cheerful. That a merry heart does good like a medicine is a true physical fact of life. It contributes very much to the restoration or preservation of bodily health and vigour, as medical practitioners observe and experience shows. A broken heart (sad, rejected) dries the bones. It is a proven truth that a spirit broken with sorrow, whether on spiritual or temporal accounts; as it weakens the nerves, it dries up the marrow in the bones, and emaciates the body, and reduces it to a skeleton. The joy or grief of the mind has a very great influence upon the body, either for its good or hurt.

It was confirmed by medical studies that those who smile and laugh, will live longer. There is now a whole category of sickness and body maladies called psychosomatic illness, where the mind can cause physical problems in your body. If you allow envy, bitterness, depression, grief, resentment or anger in your life, you are exposing your mind and body for harmful sickness.

*The benefits of being joyful are countless. Your blood pressure goes down, your ability to fight infection goes up, and your face looks fresh (Prov. 15:13). Research has shown that when you smile and laugh, a number of physiological changes occur in your body, mostly without you being consciously aware of it happening. If you are joyful and full of praise, you will find the blessing of God and a therapeutic balm for your body. Do not forget the scripture saying ... for the joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh. 8:10). Put your trust in Christ today whatever situation you find yourself, He will surely give you a joy unspeakable and full of glory (1 Pet. 1:8). This is word of God again (Phil. 4:4).*

*PRAYER POINTS:*

1.  Lord, let the source of bitterness in my life dry up to have your joy in abundance.

2.  Father, grant me the capacity to live my life beyond the situation I face.

3.  we pray for the quick recovering of the brethren who are in sorrow internally, in the name of Jesus.
